As summer ends and fall arrives, the year-round sun and warmth of Florida make it an ideal destination to keep upcoming winter blahs at bay. Pack your bags and gather your friends and family for an exciting fall vacation full of fun and sun, as well as some indoor,
fall activities in Orlando, for when the weather won’t cooperate with your outdoor plans. Set your sights on Orlando and the surrounding area with its many exciting entertainment offerings and you’ll build a fall vacation to keep you happy and busy throughout your stay and memories to last a lifetime.
The Parks
The many theme parks that call Orlando home seem to put on a show for every holiday and season. Epcot hosts the International Festival of the Holidays as well as the International Food & Wine Festival, get spooky with Universal Studios Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights, or make a spooky splash at the SeaWorld Halloween Spectacular. Each park has some variation of a fall celebration that guests of all ages won’t want to miss. See characters dressed in spooky or festive costumes and even some fall-themed treats from the park restaurants.
Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!
When the chill of fall blows through, you’ll want an indoor escape. While there are many shops, boutiques, movie theaters, and other indoor venues that offer a chance to escape the weather and enjoy the day, take some time to be amazed by the weird. Visit the museum full of oddities that will amaze and intrigue you and have you saying “I don’t believe it!” Get up close with some of Robert Ripley’s oddest oddities, including a shrunken human head, strange fossilized creatures, and many other artifacts in his crazy collection. Make sure not to miss the exhibit focused on Mr. Ripley himself and the over 3,000 letters a day he received for over 20 years! That’s more than any other individual in history up to that point.
Playfest
The festival features new plays in a raw, unproduced format. The festival invites the audience to become part of the creative process by giving real-time feedback to the actors and production crew. The event takes place November 4-6 at Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins Street in Orlando. Ticket prices range from $13-$45 and are available
here.
Head Outside
Break out of the four walls of your accommodations and enjoy the outdoors. Resorts, hotels, and vacation rentals alike all have quick access to outdoor spaces like pools, hot tubs, playgrounds, and more. Grab some water and your sun gear and hit the local trails for a hike or rent a bike and explore the area around you. These activities are even more fun in the fall when scorching summer temperatures have begun to cool down and you can enjoy the outdoors as long as you like.
The Escape Game Orlando
In the last several years, escape rooms have become a popular activity. Trade the heat and sun for air conditioning while keeping the fun going. Gather your group and work together to solve a series of clues and puzzles and break out the room in 60 minutes or less to win the game. There are different themed rooms to choose from, each with varying degrees of difficulty and the number of players needed to solve the clues. Choose the topic or difficulty that’s right for you and make sure to book in advance online
